Bill Hicks Is The Man

Well, as long as we have one dead comedian (if you consider Newman to be that funny) we might as well throw something in here about another. But we're not just talking about any dead comedian, we're talking about Bill Hicks. The Man. Bill died in February of 1994 of pancreatic cancer, if I'm not mistaken, at the all-too-young age of 32. He appeared on Late Night with David Letterman 11 times but was cut the last time before he died because his material was considered too controversial. I think he said something about religious fundamentalists. Anyways, bands such as Tool and Radiohead have dedicated albums and such to him, so I might as well do my part and dedicate issue 6 of The Underground Online to Bill. Here's a transcript from an excellent show he did in London.

Revelations - Live at the Dominion Theatre, London

It's pretty big, so in case you're too lazy to go and read it all (as I'm sure most of you are) I'll post up little Bill Hicks tidbits here from time to time. Here's one now. Enjoy.

"So there, we have figured it out, go back to bed America, your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed America, your government is in control again. Here, here's American Gladiators. Watch this, shut up. Go back to bed America, here's American Gladiators. Here's 56 channels of it. Watch these pituitary retards bang their fuckin skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go America, you are free... to do as we tell you. You are free, to do as we tell you."
