the tourist
director: rebecca

as light guitar starts, ocean sounds also begin in background, ever so softly waves wash up against shore no visuals as of yet, gray light dawns and slowly the screen adjusts to a dark blue purple sky, with calm waves glistening in midevening glory. dying light of suns rays catch on curls of wave height, then the soft woosh of recession.
after 0:30 time elapsed on album version of song, and vocals are about to begin, video lens pans to white sand beach, perfectly set with backdrop of palm trees and bahama-esque landscaping.
we see thom walking slowly along, in rolled up trousers of a light navy shade, a black tee shirt of classical styling so as to give no sense of date or year.
he is dragging his toes, close up on feet slumping along in heated steps.
a wide swoop of lens reveals all of thom again and from the focus on toes we now also see the rest of the band, dressed similarly, in a relaxed classic fashion. all are without shoes and socks.

thoms vocals begin at 0:32. at which point we are seeing the whole band on this island of luxurious paradise, white sand, shoeless, small pieces of blue and green sea glass interspersed amongst their toes and feets.

throughout song, ocean waves continue as background noise. we've panned up from the waves but every so often the camera will stumble across the path to view an ocean lookout. nothing is to be seen. nothing. no specs on the horizon ainsi.
it is pertinant that thom sing with as little emotion as possible.
large gaping of his mouth as is typical is permitted, but his eyes and face must remain placid.
especially throughout "hey man slow down" in each part of its repetition.
the sense of a blank emotionless world is especially important throughout the gentle white video that this would be.

the jist of action throughout the video would be varied between ocean scenes and following the band in a circular sort of path around the beach of the island, keeping in mind to pan back and forth against toes and sand and the drawn faces of each bandmember, esp. thom.

yes, then we leave the rest to the band and grant gee or nigel or magnus.
