let down
director:
Lonnie
The opening instrumentals goes as follows:
Upon first note the screen goes from black to the shot of a ceiling and we see the camera move from the ceiling to a digital clock on a nightstand and the camera then gets as up and moves toward the bathroom. The camera is in first perspective of a man getting out of bed and going to the bathroom. The first time we see his face is when he looks into the bathroom mirror, tired, getting ready for work.
From there we cut to:
The first line of the song "Transport motorways and tramlines"
We see the man who was just in the bathroom dressed in a suit with a briefcase getting onto a bus. As he makes his way to the back of bus he cannot help but notice that everyone is lyp syncing the words to "Let Down". Young, old, wealthy, poor, white, black, spanish, pierced and unpierced; all are lyp syncing the lyrics. The camera then follows someone getting out of bus and as she steps onto the city we see all the city dwellers lyp syncing the words. Everyone's face in the video is going to be sorrowful, wishful, a look like they are crying out for something better. As the camera moves down the streets it will focus on particular people singing the words.
Then when the lyrics "One day I am going to grow wings a chemical reaction..." Angels will come down from the sky, wearing white flowing robes long blonde hair and a perrenial soft gold glow emerging from their heavenly bodies. These angels will start to take people from the street and wisk them away to a better dream. We never see where they actually go, we just see them taken away into the sky. When this happens the camera will show different people being flown away like on the bus. Some will be tormented, hysterical, unsure. scared, happy. This then continues throughout the rest of the video.
The camera will eventually find the man we woke up with in the beginning of the video. He will be standing outside an electronics store on a city street, watching the televisions through the store front window. On television will be live news coverage of the events taking place in the video, i.e. live television coverage of the people being taken away by the angels.
Then the man notices something oddly familliar on the television. It is his face on the screen and he is at that moment being wisked away by an angel. It is all happening to him right before his very own eyes. The camera will be looking at the television steady upon the terrified face of a man being whisked away by something beyond his control. The screen will then fade to black.
Then the last lyrics of the song "Let down and hanging around" When the ending starts the camera goes from black to the shot of the same ceiling we saw in the beginning of the video. We see the same camera movement to the digital clock as we did earlier and it is just another normal day for that poor man we saw wake up in the beginnig of the video.
The only shot of Radiohead in this video is during the instrumental in the middle of the song. They will be a street band like one you would see in on a city street playing for change. The camera will focus on them playing to the instrumental as people walk by in beat to the music occasionaly dropping some spare change into Thom's open guitar case.
That is my video for "Let Down". I hope it's readable for everyone.
