fake plastic trees
director: Jamie Morrison

song starts with man in power suit wining and dining some Japanese business men in an expensive restaurant. Thom Yorke's face transparent in the background singing the song.

(That she bought from a rubber man.......)
Man suddenly stops and stares into space for a few seconds. He then begins to loosen his tie as if he's getting claustrophobic. Starts to climb onto the table.

(it wears her out......)
Kicking all the food off the table the man begins to run out of the restaurant.

(She lives with a broken man.......)
He's outside of the restaurant running as fast as he can. He looks really scared. He's taken his tie off now and he's looking around desperately. He knocks a passer by (Johnny Greenwood) out of the way. Carries on running.

(And it wears him out......)
The man is running through Canary Wharf and the skyscrapers appear to be closing in on him. Almost falling in on him. Thom's face becomes more solid in the background.

(She looks like the real thing.......)
The buildings are caving in and the man is running at full pelt and is
obviously terrified. Bricks getting really close to the man now.
(And it wears me out.......)
Fade to black. Just Thom's face singing which eventually fades out
(If I could be who you wanted.......)
The band watch as rescuers pull the mans body out of the rubble.........

Thom wrote FPT about the people in Canary Wharf ( a very rich area in London filled with stock brokers and such like.). Canary Wharf was hit hard by the recession and the video is meant to signify how these people collapsed because of the stock market crash. It's also meant to signify the way people are never really happy with what they are doing and wish they could be someone else. This is what the start of the video is about. The need to escape.
