this video takes place in a cemetary. it is mostly all in black and white. the camera does not move. thom is the only band member in it. during the whole video thom is sitting on a tombstone playing guitar while things happen in the background. whats going on in the background is one story having something to do with the song. and since thom wrote this song about romeo and juliet it has a bit of that theme in it. (by the way, the only thing you hear during the video is the song. you talk hear any of the screaming or gunshots that go on during it, you just see it.)

during this whole part thom is simply playing a black acoustic guitar while sitting on a tombstone. on the stone is written 'in a fast german car i'm amazed that i survived', but part of it is blocked by thom's feet. at the very bottem of the stone, very faded, barely legible and barely noticeable '.iMMersE your soUL in LOVE.' is written.

pack and get dressed
as thom keeps singing, 2 people, a boy and a girl, who are about twenty, walk by. they are holding hands.

before your father hears us
the boy limps by in the opposite direction from which he came. he is carrying an empty, open suitcase in his hand, and his shirt is ripping and almost destroyed. the girl is nowhere to be seen.

before all hell breaks loose
the gril from before and an older man walk by and stop right about behind where thom is singing. the girl walks backwords, almost being pushed by the man. she is crying.

breathe keep breathing
the screen all of the sudden becomes tinted red. the girl and the man are screaming. the girl is still sobbing. she reaches into her pants and pulls out a gun.

dont loose your nerve
the girl shoots one bullet into the air. the man is shoked and really pissed about this. he grabs the gun from her and hits her across her face. thom takes absolutly no notice.

breathe keep breathing
the two people run off. the man runs in the area in which the boy and girl first entered. the girl goes in the opposite direction. as soon as the both exit, a bird drops to the ground, dead. while this is happening, the red tint on the screen is replaced by a blue one. it begins to to pour.

i can't do this alone
boy runs by and stops a little bit past where thom is. he is soaking wet and there's blood on his face. he starts screaming and immediately after a bolt of lightning strikes. a bit before he starts screaming, people start arriving and just stand there not moving.

sing us a song
the blue tint is no longer there and it is now black and white as it was in the beginning. all at once the people start talking. the rain is still pouring. the man is now directly behind thom.

a song to keep us warm
the people are still talking. the man starts mysteriously bleeding from his neck and some of it gets in thom's hair. he takes no notice.

theres such a chill such a chill.
the man runs off. the rain now stops on the far left and right sides of the screen, but is still heavely pouring in the center, including on thom.

you can laugh
the older man from before runs on. he starts running back and forth. wherever he goes the rain stops in that area, but as soon as he walks away from there it resumes.

a spineless laugh
the man continues to frantically run.

we hope your rules and wisdom choke you
about half of the people who have been endlessly talking take out guns. they all fire one bullet into the man's back. he falls down and immediately dies. the rain stops. all the of the people stop talking.

and now we are one
the girl runs on, and sees the old man lying dead, face down. she takes out a gun and puts it up against her chest.

in everlasting peace
she shoots herself in the chest. while she is about to fall to the ground, the boy runs on. he is totally naked and there is a censor on his private area. the girl is surprised to see him, and he runs to her. by the time he gets to her she is already dead.

we hope that you choke that you choke
the man runs into the left side of the crowd. all the people start talking again.

we hope that you choke that you choke
all of the people on the left side move away at once. then they all bend down.

we hope that you choke that you choke
all the people on the right side run away, while all the other people are still there talking. on the area where the people left, you see seomthing moving. as it gets up and flies away you can see that it is the bird that had died earlier in the video. as the song ends, the people in the crowd begin to leave. thom is still sitting on the tombstone holding is guitar.
